The Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM) has reaffirmed its commitment to community resilience and humanitarian support following a joint relief mission to families displaced by recent floods in Chirunga Camp, Traditional Authority Mwambo, in Zomba.
The visit was led by CRECCOM Executive Director, Alinafe Ireen Chibwana, alongside partners from Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) and IsraAID. The delegation delivered essential relief items to affected households, providing timely assistance to families who have lost homes, property, and livelihoods due to the floods.
The distributed support—comprising assorted basic necessities—was made possible in large part through the generous contributions of CRECCOM staff members, reflecting the organisation’s strong culture of solidarity and compassion.

During the visit, Chibwana personally handed over the relief items and took time to interact with displaced families, offering words of encouragement and emotional support during a time of uncertainty and loss.
“In moments like these, it is important that communities know they are not alone,” said Chibwana. “Together with our partners, we stand with every family affected and remain committed to supporting their recovery with dignity and hope.”

The engagement provided not only material assistance but also a sense of reassurance to affected families. One beneficiary, Elida Maxmos, expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the support had restored hope amid hardship.
“We lost so much to the floods, but today we feel seen and supported,” said another beneficiary, Lick George. “These items will help us begin again, and the words of encouragement have given us strength.”

The humanitarian visit underscores the importance of collaborative response efforts in times of crisis, as organisations pool resources and expertise to reach vulnerable communities more effectively.
CRECCOM has extended sincere appreciation to all individuals and partners who contributed to the response. The organisation emphasised that such acts of generosity are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected and continue to inspire hope for recovery.
