Motorcycles to Strengthen CHWBRC Community Outreach
Save the Children has handed over 9 motorcycles to CRECCOM under the Climate Resilient Health and Well-being for Rural Communities in Southern Malawi (CHWBRC) Project.
The motorcycles will strengthen mobility, coordination, monitoring and supervision of project activities in communities affected by climate change. They will enable frontline teams to conduct regular field visits, provide technical assistance and engage communities on climate-resilience and health interventions.
Speaking during the handover, Save the Children’s CHWBRC Zomba District Coordinator, Ndamyo Ngosi Msofi, said the motorcycles would help project teams deliver timely and effective support.
“We are confident that these motorcycles will facilitate timely implementation, monitoring and supervision of project activities. The support will also enhance community engagement and strengthen linkages between climate resilience, health and community development interventions,” said Msofi.
CRECCOM Executive Director Alinafe Chibwana thanked Save the Children and the project’s partners for the continued collaboration and support. She noted that improved mobility would help field teams reach more communities, monitor progress and respond quickly to emerging needs.
The motorcycles will be particularly important in reaching remote and hard-to-access areas. Improved access will help project teams work closely with community structures, health workers and local authorities in strengthening community preparedness and responses to climate-related health risks.
Through the Green Climate Fund-supported CHWBRC Project, the Ministry of Health, Save the Children, CRECCOM and the Catholic Health Commission are working together to strengthen local systems and improve the resilience, health and well-being of vulnerable rural communities in southern Malawi.
