CRECCOM is participating in a three-day stakeholder workshop in Lilongwe aimed at strengthening collaboration and shaping Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) interventions under the Climate Resilient Health and Well-Being for Rural Communities in Southern Malawi (CHWBRC) programme.
The workshop, convened by Save the Children Malawi, has brought together implementing partners including Catholic Health Commission and key government representatives from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.
The engagement is focused on building a common understanding of the programme while laying the groundwork for the development of a comprehensive SBC Strategy aligned with Malawi’s existing health and development policies.
The CHWBRC programme, funded through the Green Climate Fund, is running from 2025 to 2030 and seeks to strengthen the resilience of the healthcare system in southern Malawi against climate-related challenges.

The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 1.7 million people, particularly women, children, and vulnerable populations across Balaka, Ntcheu, Machinga, Mangochi, Phalombe, and Zomba districts.
As a key implementing partner, CRECCOM is contributing its expertise in development communication, community mobilisation, and social behaviour change programming to ensure communities are actively engaged in climate-resilient health interventions.
Speaking during the workshop, stakeholders underscored the importance of partnership, coordination, and shared ownership in achieving the programme’s long-term goals.

Participants also emphasized the critical role of strategic communication and community engagement in promoting resilient healthcare systems and improving well-being among vulnerable communities.
The CHWBRC programme is co-financed by GSK, Sanofi Foundation, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and the Moondance Foundation.
