The Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM) has been recognized with two prestigious accolades at the 2025 NGO Awards, held at Sunbird Mzuzu Hotel. The organization walked away with Best NGO in Transparency and Best NGO in Girl Education, a double victory that affirms CRECCOM’s commitment to openness and its tireless work in advancing girls’ education in Malawi.
The awards were presented by the Minister of Gender, Community Development, and Social Welfare, Hon. Jean Sendeza, who commended NGOs for their life-changing work in communities. “Tonight, we are not awarding institutions but celebrating the lives of communities who have benefitted from all efforts by NGOs throughout the year. Congratulations to all NGOs that ensure Malawians in hard-to-reach areas are served with services like water, health, agriculture, and education,” said the minister.
Receiving the awards on behalf of CRECCOM was Justice Jean Rosemary Kayira, CRECCOM Board Chairperson, who expressed gratitude for the recognition. “As a Board, we are deeply humbled by these awards, which affirm the values that drive CRECCOM—integrity, transparency, and a steadfast belief in the power of education. This achievement is a reflection of the trust we share with our communities, our partners, and the young girls whose futures we fight to safeguard every day,” she said.

On behalf of CRECCOM management and staff, Executive Director Alinafe Ireen Chibwana applauded the collective effort that made the recognition possible. “These awards are not for CRECCOM alone—they belong to the children, parents, mother groups, REAL Fathers, youth forums, teachers, school management committees, traditional leaders, district councils, government ministries, partners, and our dedicated staff. Together, you are the heartbeat of our mission, and together we will continue to transform lives through transparency and education.”
The recognition by the NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA) and district councils underscores CRECCOM’s impact in promoting transparency and empowering marginalized girls to stay in school. The awards serve as a powerful motivation for the organization to deepen its efforts in building resilient communities, ensuring no one is left behind.
