Under the SP-GEAR project, CRECCOM facilitated a Gender Transformative Approaches (GTA) awareness session at Traditional Authority Ngwelero in Zomba. The session addressed harmful cultural norms, promoted gender equality, encouraged social inclusion, and supported joint household decision-making among Social Cash Transfer (SCT) beneficiaries.

The initiative empowers men and women to challenge traditions that limit progress, share responsibilities, and foster mutual respect. By promoting equitable household practices, GTA strengthens community resilience and builds more inclusive and balanced communities in Zomba.
The SP-GEAR (Social Protection for Gender Empowerment and Resilience) project is supported by the European Union, the Government of Ireland, and UNICEF. CRECCOM is implementing activities in Zomba, Mzimba North, and Mzimba South, in close collaboration with the Malawi Government and respective District Councils.
