At Milonga Community Day Secondary School in Thyolo, the study circles established through the Let Girls Learn II Project by CRECCOM, with support from Echidna Giving, are transforming the way students learn and achieve. These peer-led groups provide a platform for learners to review lessons, tackle challenging subjects, and support one another in areas where the school lacks resources, such as textbooks, laboratories, and libraries.

Memory Kolesi, now in Form 4, shares how the study circles have changed her academic journey: “Before the study circles, I struggled with mathematics and sciences. But now, working with my classmates, discussing problems, and sharing tips has helped me improve so much. I hope to do well in my exams and get selected to a public university, where I want to become a teacher.”

Rose Botoman echoes this sentiment, explaining how the circles have strengthened her understanding of biology and health sciences: “The study circles have been amazing. I get to ask questions freely and learn from others. I want to become a nurse one day, and these sessions are helping me build the foundation I need.”

Through the study circles, students at Milonga CDSS are not only improving academically—they are also gaining confidence, teamwork, and resilience, proving that even in resource-limited rural schools, collective learning and mentorship can open doors to brighter futures.
