In the bustling urban education zone of Zomba district, Mpotola Primary School stands as one of the beacons of hope for education. At the heart of its transformative journey lies Diana Chikhaza, both a standard 2 teacher and Coordinator for the Building Education Foundations through Innovation and Technology (BEFIT) program at the school.

Since its inception, Chikhaza has been a tireless advocate for the BEFIT program at Mpotola Primary School. Recognizing the pressing need for innovative approaches to address literacy challenges, she embarked on a mission to revolutionize the learning experience for her students.

Reflecting on the hurdles her students faced, particularly in reading comprehension, Chikhaza reveals, "Most of the children used to struggle with reading various books, both in and out of class. Despite the availability of supplementary reading materials, many encountered difficulties as the books predominantly featured pictures with accompanying sentences. This led to a focus on visuals rather than on developing reading skills."

Driven by a passion to ignite a love for learning, Chikhaza welcomed the BEFIT program with open arms. Its interactive lessons on tablets presented a paradigm shift in educational pedagogy, seamlessly integrating pictures with text and offering a guided learning experience led by the dedicated teacher, Alefa.

Under Chikhaza's visionary leadership, the BEFIT program has flourished, becoming an integral part of the school's curriculum. Through meticulous planning and unwavering dedication, she ensures that every student at Mpotola Primary School has access to the transformative power of technology-enhanced education.

The impact of Chikhaza's efforts reverberates throughout the school community. Students once daunted by the complexities of reading now approach learning with renewed confidence and enthusiasm. Parents and teachers alike marvel at the remarkable progress witnessed among the students, attributing it to the innovative strategies championed by Chikhaza and the BEFIT program.

Beyond the confines of the school walls, Chikhaza's story serves as an inspiration to educators across the region. Her unwavering commitment to educational excellence and her belief in the potential of every child to succeed are testament to the profound impact that dedicated individuals can have on shaping the future of generations to come.

As Diana Chikhaza continues to pave the way for educational innovation at Mpotola Primary School, her journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of passion, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence in education.
