INTEGRATED CHILD LABOR ELIMINATION PROJECT (ICLEP)

The project aimed at sensitizing, motivating and mobilizing school communities to critically look at their attitudes, practices and traditions regarding child labour in Dowa and Kasungu tobacco growing districts. In each year on average there were 581 more children in school, over 250 children were in Community Based Child Care Centers from a zero base. Various community initiatives were in place to combat child labor like the Child labour Committee around Dwangwa School in Kasungu that managed to withdraw 1,678 children from child labour conditions and enrolled them back to school.
