Committee brings school innovation

Some students need motivation to work hard in school and some things that motivate them include provision of
well-trained teachers, desks, chalkboards and teaching and learning materials.
Nangwengwere Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Thyolo has all but desks.

During classes, some students used to sit on the floor. The development discouraged some students who dropped
out of school. Those who still remained in school performed poorly because they lacked motivation.

This being the case, the school turned to its School Improvement Plan committee for help.

With K700 000 grant from Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM), they maintained the
desks that were destroyed.

After the maintenance, the students are now motivated to work hard.

The committee also bought a global map for Geography lessons and a movable chalkboard for the school.
Now students who take Geography use the global map for their group discussions.
