Kalenge Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Chitipa was a once dilapidated but now it wears a new
face, thanks to Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM) which empowered School Improvement Plan committee.
The committee received K700 000 from CRECCOM and used it to carry out renovation works.
In addition, the committee used part of the money to connect electricity to the school. This necessitated them to
buy a printer and a laptop computer.
The school’s head teacher Harold Simwera said the two gadgets are helping them a lot in preparing students-notes
and share them in class.
“In the past, we had problems writing notes on the chalk board for students to copy,” he said.
The committee also bought 20 plastic chairs and renovated a teacher’s house and a girls’ bath shelter.
