Chikonde Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Mulanje used to face shortage of chairs—but now the problem is over—School Improvement Plan (SIP) committee procured them.
The committee, made up of teachers, management team, students, mother groups, parents and teachers associations, traditional leaders, among others, got lessons in championing projects from Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM).
So, following the training, SIP decided to buy the chairs.
Chikonde CDSS SIP chairperson Ramsom Amos said the school had shortage of chairs.
“This led to absenteeism because some learners did not want to sit on the floor,” he said.
The school’s head teacher Masters Dzimbiri commended CRECCOM for the training.
“We used to borrow chairs which cost us a lot,” he said.
SIP committee has since pledged to implement a lot of projects at the school.
