Chikonde Primary School gets books

Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM) donated old syllabus books to Chikonde Primary School in Mulanje to boost learners’ literacy levels.

Creccom received the books from Malawi Institute of Education for its reading initiative in its area project.

The organisation involved community day secondary schools under its project during the donation.

Speaking on behalf of Chikonde Primary School, Masters Dzimbiri, who is Chikonde CDSS head teacher, said reference books were needed in primary schools to boost learners’ literacy levels.

“The books will also be used as reference materials for teachers and learners,” he said.

James Tebulo, a learner, said the books will boost their chances of passing the Primary School Certificate of Education (PSCE) examinations.

“I will enhance my reading culture through reading the books,” he said.
