Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM) donated buckets and soap to Nyodola Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Thyolo to enhance its efforts in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The organisation also conducted awareness meetings with duty-bearers in three other districts, namely Mulanje, Chitipa and Ntchisi to relay coronavirus preventive measures to people.
A Form Two student, Charles Magwila, 17, commended CRECCOM for the donation.
“The items will enhance hygiene at the school, thereby helping students prevent the spread of the pandemic,” he said.
Nyodola CDSS head teacher Paul Kalombe described the donation as timely.
“We will enforce regular hand-washing with soap among students and teachers now that we have the resources,” he said.
CRECCOM Field Officer Kumbukani Ngaiyaye said the organisation wanted to complement government’s efforts in fighting the pandemic.
“We want students and teachers to remain safe from the contagious infection,” he said.
CRECCOM is implementing Improving Education Quality in Community Day Secondary Schools (IEQ-CDSS) project in Thyolo, Mulanje, Chitipa and Ntchisi.
